As part of the Foster + Partners office, Gilles Delage was in charge of the conception and the design development of the London Academy in Edgware.

This Academy is part of the construction programme launched by the British Labour government in 1997, to provide modern facilities and education to children in deprived context.

This Academy focuses into Business, Entreprise and ICT.

1425 students and 200 staff are housed in two homebases (Upper & Lower Schools) organised around their own atrium.

The Academy is structured around a top-lit three storey hall, which acts as a circulation spine to connect the upper and lower schools to the common facilities (theatre, sportshall, library and restaurant). A dedicated pedestrian bridge links the school with the sports field accross the road.

Sustainability wise, the building is predominantly naturally ventilated with localised mechanically assisted spaces.
